UCR Undergraduates Awarded Summer Research FellowshipsUCR Undergraduates Awarded Summer Research Fellowships

Four UCR undergraduates have been awarded highly-competitive summer research fellowships by the Semiconductor Research Corporation. The fellowships will provide each recipient a stipend of $4,000 for 10 weeks to work this summer in science and technology fields related to the semiconductor computer industry. It also includes an invitation to TechCon, a national conference that brings together industry representatives, faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students to share cutting edge research related to the semiconductor industry. This year's recipients are Sahar Naghibi, Ingrid Liao, Dominic Martinez-Ta and William Coley. All four students work with Ludwig Bartels, a professor of chemistry.  Read Moretest

2015 Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship2015 Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship

Dr. Jonathan Ashby, a graduate of Dr. Wenwan Zhong's research group, has received the 2015 Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, a highly selective fellowship administered by the National Research Council (NRC). The awarded individuals must have demonstrated superior academic achievement, be committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, shown a sustained commitment to diversity in education, and shown promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers. Jonathan received his Ph.D. in 2014 and is currently working as a postdoc under the supervision of Dr. Sheila David in the Department of Chemistry, UC Davis, as an NIH T32 fellow in Oncogenic Signals and Chromosome Biology.  Read Moretest

Patrick Dunne, Ph.D., Retired Senior Advisor in Advanced Processing and Nutritional Biochemistry for the Department of Defense Combat Feeding Directorate at the U.S. Army Research Center, has received the 2014 Nicholas Appert Award for his leadership in focused research in advanced food processing that has led to transition to new processing technologies, such as high pressure processing, pulsed electric field processing, and microwave sterilization to move from laboratory research to industrial adoption and production of improved food products.  Read Moretest
