Erik Romero was UCR's recipient of the American Chemical Society Undergraduate Award for 2014. Erik carried out his undergraduate research in Prof. Morton's laboratory. Erik's University Honors Program (UHP) thesis was of high quality, embodying not only his research at UCR, but also his work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (supported by a 2013 UCR MARCU* fellowship). UCR Chemistry Club ACS AwardUCR Chemistry Club ACS Award

The UCR Chem Club has been recognized as an honorable mention by the American Chemical Society for the second consecutive year. Student chapters receive special recognition on the basis of their programs and activities. UCR was also recognized as a green chapter due to a successful battery recycling program during the 2013-2014 academic year. Though all of the Chem Club officers should be commended for their efforts, outgoing President Anh Thac and current President Joe Mejia should be given special recognition for their leadership.  Read Moretest

Patrick Dunne, Ph.D., Retired Senior Advisor in Advanced Processing and Nutritional Biochemistry for the Department of Defense Combat Feeding Directorate at the U.S. Army Research Center, has received the 2014 Nicholas Appert Award for his leadership in focused research in advanced food processing that has led to transition to new processing technologies, such as high pressure processing, pulsed electric field processing, and microwave sterilization to move from laboratory research to industrial adoption and production of improved food products.  Read Moretest
