A research team led by Yadong Yin has fabricated microscopic polymer beads that change color instantly and reversibly when external magnetic fields change their orientation. Applications include displays such as rewritable or reusable papers and magnetically activated security features.

Congratulations to junior Chemistry major Robert Young for receipt of the 2009 ACS Undergraduate Award in Analytical Chemistry. Robert received recognition for his outstanding academic performance in Chem 125 and in the graduate course Chem 229Q, and through his undergraduate research in analytical chemistry under the direction of Prof. Rabenstein.
