Professor Chia-en Chang as been awarded the 2010 HP Outstanding Junior Faculty award from the ACS Division of Computers in Chemistry. Winners are selected for the novelty and potential impact of their research. The award will be presented at the Fall ACS National Meeting in Washington, DC, and will be recognized in the August 24 issue of C&EN. Dr. Chang has also been invited to give an oral presentation as one of the best young researchers in the field of computational chemistry.

A research team led by Yadong Yin has fabricated microscopic polymer beads that change color instantly and reversibly when external magnetic fields change their orientation. Applications include displays such as rewritable or reusable papers and magnetically activated security features.
