On Nov. 19th President of Germany Horst Koehler opened the Center for New Technologies at the Deutsche Museum in Munich including an exhibit from the Bartels Lab showing his system of Molecule Carriers.

In a recent article in Science, the Bertrand group shows the synthesis of abnormal N-heterocyclic carbenes, which previously had been believed to be unstable yet may prove very useful catalysts in pharmaceutical chemistry.

Professor Chia-en Chang as been awarded the 2010 HP Outstanding Junior Faculty award from the ACS Division of Computers in Chemistry. Winners are selected for the novelty and potential impact of their research. The award will be presented at the Fall ACS National Meeting in Washington, DC, and will be recognized in the August 24 issue of C&EN. Dr. Chang has also been invited to give an oral presentation as one of the best young researchers in the field of computational chemistry.
