Research in the Su Laboratory harnesses organic and main group synthesis to access next-generation materials for exploring charge transport and bioimaging at nanoscale dimensions. The first key area of research is to develop novel group IV (Si, Ge, Sn) clusters, polymers, and nanoribbons for incorporation into nanoscale electronic devices. The second focus area utilizes organic and polymer chemistry tools to devise new hydrogel and fluorescent probe platforms for super-resolution biological imaging. Given the interdisciplinary nature of our work, researchers in the Su Lab receive broad-based training that starts from synthetic chemistry and extends to materials science, molecular electronics, microscopy, and/or biochemistry depending on the specific project.
