Research Topic

Atmospheric organic aerosol plays a central role impacting air quality, global climate, and human health. Thus it is critical to understand the formation and evolution of organic aerosol, which often involves multiphase interactions. Our research focuses on understanding this multiphase physiochemical processes. Specifically, our group:

  • use controlled laboratory studies and analytical techniques to identify and quantify gas- and particle-phase species that are important in atmospheric organic aerosol;
  • develop chemical models to understand the formation and evolution of organic aerosol; and
  • investigate the influence on climate and human health of specific organic aerosol.
